Andreas Philippou
Andreas Philippou (1933-2023) was an architect and co-founder of J+A Philippou. In a career spanning approximately 65 years, his design work encompassed a truly extensive and diverse range of work – some of which has been internationally acknowledged. Andreas was instrumental in pursuing the overseas agenda of the Practice, while his daily routine encompassed an overseeing role in all of the practice’s production throughout his life. Apart from his wide-ranging and vast architectural output, he has served as Member in the Executive Board of various Public and Private Institutions – including the Planning Board and both Bank of Cyprus and Makarios Cultural Foundations, as well as in the capacity of Chairman for both Cyprus and Logos (then MEGA) Broadcasting Corporations. In parallel to all these, Andreas had sustained a life-long fascination in the Byzantine Architecture and Historical Landscape of Cyprus – a twin subject of three published books.
