In recent years, Covered Balconies have become a strong formal element of multi-residential buildings in Cypriot cities. Beyond their evident bioclimatic role, they also project internal domestic life in a protected exterior space, often overlooking the street.
This Apartment Project follows this lineage, but it does so with an intensity that allows the architecture to be determined by the articulation of balconies. This creates an intriguing juxtaposition between the deep front façade and the contrasting flatness of the side elevations.
Finally, the decision to selectively clad some external surfaces in brick is both a reflection and a tribute to some notable industrial buildings in the area.
