This small Pavilion concerns an autonomous extension to the Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics and is located on the west side of the Main Building’s foreground, thus accommodating the Physiotherapy Unit.
The Ground Floor is recessed in respect to the overhanging First Floor to align with existing footpaths and the topography, while it is cladded with local sand-stone and involves minimal openings to ensure the patients’ privacy. The First Floor reinterprets the brise soleil language of the Main Building, converting them to a denser version, which is more appropriate to its scale and form.
Experienced from its highly differentiated setting – which entails both vehicular roads of accelerated speeds and the Green Open Space in the Main Building’s foreground – the Project seeks to concurrently register as both complementary to and a feature of its context.
