A Mixed-Use Tower in Nicosia’s Central Business District diagonally opposite the old GSP Stadium, now itself in the process of redevelopment into a Public Park with various facilities and extensive parking capacity.
If the archetypical high-rise structure entails a vertical stacking of independent floors and a coherent overall exterior configuration, this Project both adheres and reworks this diagram. Organisationally, all Basement Floors are handed over to Supportive Functions, while the Ground and First Floors are animated by Commercial/Eating Facilities; these are then followed by multiple Workspace floors, leading to the last two parts of the Tower – reserved for Hospitality and Residential Uses respectively.
This Programmatic Banding of the Project is expressed it is exterior, in conjunction to a façade articulation comprised by two aspects. The first one seeks to provide both Shading Screens and Framing Devices towards key points of interest in the vicinity, while the Screens themselves – as internal façades – alternate between permeable and solid surfaces – furthering the play of light, depth, and shadow.
