The building is composed by three “layers”, each one of which is handled in a differentiated architectural approach. The first layer, at the ground floor level, with its board formed concrete surface, organizes an access to the building through exterior and interior spaces. The edifice’s central zone, with its white surface, its projections towards the public road and the recesses of the verandas, is dynamic while maintaining its consistency. The fourth and last floor, which completes this composition as the top “layer”, is in a slight recess from the lower levels, while it differentiates itself from them with the use of vertical grooves at equal distances.
The development takes advantage of the height difference of the plot on the street’s side, creating a semi-basement parking space, which completes the parking space on the ground floor’s pilotis.
The materials of the floors and walls are natural and have earth tones, in order to provide a humble background for the building’s “story” to evolve. For the common areas simple lighting fixtures were placed in such a way that to signify routes and to highlight architectural details, while the vegetation chosen for the exterior areas comprise of herbs and plants common to the Cypriot tradition.
