The Hadjicostis Cultural Centre in Nicosia is a multi-purpose event hall and cultural hub dedicated to the memory of Andy Hadjicostis. This Project is designed to operate as a vibrant cultural venue \u2013 featuring a state-of-the-art Amphitheatre, a Library, a Cafeteria, and Administration Offices.<\/p>\n
At the heart of the building lies the main exhibition\/event hall, an oval-shaped space that forms the centrepiece of the design. This central hall is higher in elevation and surrounded by various supporting functions, which not only contain it but also frame an appropriate entrance. The design\u2019s footprint follows the boundaries of the plot, calibrating its volumetric presence within its\u2019 urban surroundings.<\/p>\n
The fa\u00e7ade of the main hall is clad in copper panels, distinguishing it from both the other components of the project and the surrounding buildings \u2013 thereby emphasising its uniqueness-significance. In contrast, the hall\u2019s supportive structures feature a more conventional fa\u00e7ade articulation with minimal transparency, which further enhances the accentuates the presence of the central hall. This calculated association between materials and forms yields a building within an inherent visual contrast, highlighting the cultural centre\u2019s role as a landmark within the urban fabric.<\/p>\n
